More info about the new season, including a “Member Information Form”

Dear friends,

I hope that by now you have all read the great news that we – the Medford Community Chorale and Youth/Young Adult Chorus – have received approval to return to in person rehearsals  on September 8th!  I can’t wait to begin preparing for a LIVE Christmas/holiday concert on December 12th!

Over the course of the summer, I will be sending out practice materials for our concert pieces, so you can begin to familiarize yourselves with the music, giving us a “leg up” in September!

Also, in order to help me prepare for September and update my files, I have included a link (below) to a member information form.  If any of your contact information has changed since November 2019 – or if you have never filled one out! – I would be most appreciative if you could please complete and return this form to me at your earliest convenience.

Although we will miss our “long distance” friends, I am so looking forward to our coming back together again!

In the meantime, enjoy the summer, and try to keep cool!

Thanks so much,

Betsy

Happy last day of June, everyone!  I hope you and your families are well.   I am delighted to let you all know that the final version of  our SIXTH Medford Community Chorale and Youth/Young Adult “virtual choir video”, “Sing!” is ready!  (please see link below):

https://youtu.be/97jPDQkkkUI

I am so happy that the adult chorale welcomed 2 new video  participants this time – including one member who participated from Lansing, Michigan – and the youth/young adult chorus welcomed 1 new participant!  I so hope that those of you who participated enjoyed your experience!

Once again, this project has been a lot of work, but it has also continued to be a wonderful and fun learning experience for all of us, and I would like, once again, to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Julie, Holly, Salvo (our trumpeter), Jonathan (our drummer), our youth chorus parents, our generous sponsors, and to all of you for all of your effort and your hard work.

I hope you enjoy the video.  Please feel free to share it with any of your family and friends whom you think might like to see it.

I also have some exciting news!  We just recently received approval from the Medford Community Schools office to resume in person rehearsals in September! (Wednesday, September 8th, to be exact!), and I am so hoping those of you who are “local” will join us again!  I will be back in touch with more details a little later in the summer.

In the meantime, let’s all enjoy a little “break”, until we are able to come together again in September!

I am thrilled that the adult chorale welcomed 15 new video  participants this time – including members who participated from California, Illinois, Washington D.C., and 3 friends from Abruzzo, Italy! The youth / young adult chorus welcomed 5 new participants!  I so hope that those of you who participated enjoyed your experience, and that those of you who were not able to be with us this time will consider joining us for the next video?!

Once again, this project has been a lot of work, but it also continues to be a wonderful and fun learning experience for all of us, and I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Julie, Holly, our youth chorus parents, and to all of you for all of your effort and your hard work.

I hope you enjoy the videos.  Please feel free to share them with any of your family and friends whom you think might like to see them.  And let’s all enjoy a little “break,”  until we begin work on our next video a little later in the spring!

Medford Community Chorale (MCC) Presents TWO New Virtual Concerts

Happy Thanksgiving weekend, everyone!  I hope you all had a nice – if unusual! – holiday.

I am delighted to let you all know that – right on schedule! – the final version of  our second Medford Community Chorale “virtual choir video,” “Lift Every Voice and Sing!” … and our FIRST youth/young adult chorus video, “Do-Re-Mi” are ready! (See links below.)  As you will see in the opening frames, we have dedicated the adults’ video in loving memory of our friend and chorale member, Jan Miegel, who passed away, sadly, on  November 19th.

Now It’s Your Turn, Youth Chorus!

Dear youth singers and parents,

We haven’t forgotten about you!!

As you may know, rehearsals were well underway, when everything came to a “screeching halt” in March, due to the pandemic.

So, we came up with the idea to create a virtual choir video, and began with the adult chorale. If you haven’t seen it yet, here is the link to their performance:

… and now it’s your turn!! The piece we have chosen is the Sound of Music favorite, “Do-Re-Mi”. Just FYI, here’s a link to a performance of this arrangement:

If you’d like to participate – and we so hope you will! – please let me know as soon as possible, at elizabethpesce@comcast.net or 617-335-8155, and I’ll send you the details!

Warmest regards,
Betsy

You are invited to participate in our next virtual concert!

Dear friends,

I hope this note finds you and your families enjoying this very seasonable start to fall!

First off, once again, I want to thank all those of you who were able to participate in our very first “virtual choir“ video…you all did a great job! And now I would like to extend an invitation to ALL of you who would like to do so to participate in our next one!

I have chosen another of the pieces we were working on together – “Lift Every Voice and Sing”. As you may recall, we had intended for this to be the opening piece for our spring concert. Just for your reference, here is a link to the publisher’s demo performance of this arrangement:

I think, given everything that is happening in our country right now, this piece is especially appropriate.

If you would like to participate – and I so hope you will! – just please let me know as soon as possible and I will send you all of the details and the “how to‘s”!

I am looking forward to hearing back from each of you.

Warmest regards,
Betsy
