Medford Community Chorale (MCC) Opens Its Fall Season September 6th

​The Medford Community Chorale & Youth / Young Adult Chorus opens its fall season on September 6th, when rehearsals begin in preparation for their 2023 holiday concert. The concert is scheduled for Friday, December 1st, at 7 PM in the Caron Theatre  at Medford High School, and new members are welcome … PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING US!    

The concert, which is entitled “Let It Snow!”, will be a celebration of the season, and will consist of a varied program of holiday selections ranging from classical to popular to sacred to Hanukkah. Proceeds from the concert program book will be donated to Chapters Coffee Carts Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported worksite, located in the Charlotte and William Bloomberg Medford Public Library, whose mission is to help advance the lives of Medford’s disabled persons seeking employment and professional skills on the job training, so that they may flourish and become part of the broader workforce. 
  
There are no auditions and the only requirement is a love of singing!  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings in the first floor music room in the McGlynn Middle School, located at 3002 Mystic Valley Parkway here in Medford: youth/young adult chorus at 6 PM, and full chorus from 7 to 8:30 PM.

Mark Torgerson on guitar with Kadanz Jazz: Upcoming performances

Kadanz Jazz has some upcoming outdoor summer gigs! 

Enjoy music by local professional musicians sharing American Jazz Standards, with new twists integrating rhythms from Caribbean and Latin traditions. Led by Mark Torgerson on guitar,  joined by keyboard, bass, sax/flute, and percussion. Check out one — or all three — as the roster of musicians will shift between the three events offering a variety. 

  • At the Somerville Community Growing Center at 22 Vinal Avenue on Thursdays, June 22nd and July 13th7-8:30pm!  Grab your chair or blanket, a picnic, some non-alcoholic beverages and enjoy an evening of free music in a garden setting. Supported in part by a grant from the Somerville Arts Council, a local commission that is supported by the MassCultural Council, and the City of Somerville. Facebook link.   • At the Medford Condon Shell, at 2501 Mystic Valley Pkwy, Medford, Friday, June 30th, 7-8:30pm. Grab your chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of free music along the Mystic River. Bring a picnic or pick up dinner in nearby Medford Square. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Medford Arts Council, a local commission that is supported by the Mass Cultural Council and the City of Medford.

I, with invaluable assistance from Kevin and Cat at Medford TV, am putting the finishing touches on the concert video. I hope to have it finished by the end of next week.

We had our first rehearsal for our Boston Glory gig last night, and, if I do say so myself, we sound great! 🙂

Summers can be slow. So, if anyone out there has a link to any performances, please send them along and I will post them here and on our website.

MCC at Boston Glory (Ultimate Disc) on June 24 at 5 pm at Hormel Stadium, Medford (MA)

MCC will be performing as part of the Boston Glory Ultimate Music Series. Ultimate Disc is a fast-paced, non-contact professional sport.

The chorus will be singing the national anthem before the game, and performing at half time, as well.

A portion of the proceeds – ($2) for every $14 ticket sold with the promo code CORRAL 23 –will be donated to the Chorale.

In addition, Boston Glory is donating a Glory gift basket (value $250), including a $100 gift card to the team’s favorite post-game, hangout spot, the Long Cross Bar and Kitchen at Station Landing here in Medford, which will be raffled off, leading up to and during the game to help raise additional funds for MCC. Raffle tickets will be sold at the merchandise table, the winning ticket will be drawn at the game on the 24th, and the winner’s name will be announced over the PA system.
