Our Latest “Virtual Concert”

Happy ā€œeveā€ of St Patrick’s Day, everyone!  I hope you and your families are well.

I am delighted to let you all know that – a little ahead of schedule! – the final version of our THiRD Medford Community Chorale ā€œvirtual choir video,ā€ ā€œThe Sound of Music,ā€ and our SECOND youth / young adult chorus video, ā€œI’d Like to Teach the World to Singā€ are ready!  (Please see links below).

I am thrilled that the adult chorale welcomed 15 new video  participants this time – including members who participated from California, Illinois, Washington D.C., and 3 friends from Abruzzo, Italy! The youth / young adult chorus welcomed 5 new participants!  I so hope that those of you who participated enjoyed your experience, and that those of you who were not able to be with us this time will consider joining us for the next video?!

Once again, this project has been a lot of work, but it also continues to be a wonderful and fun learning experience for all of us, and I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Julie, Holly, our youth chorus parents, and to all of you for all of your effort and your hard work.

I hope you enjoy the videos.  Please feel free to share them with any of your family and friends whom you think might like to see them.  And let’s all enjoy a little ā€œbreak,ā€  until we begin work on our next video a little later in the spring!

Now It’s Your Turn, Youth Chorus!

Dear youth singers and parents,

We haven’t forgotten about you!!

As you may know, rehearsals were well underway, when everything came to a ā€œscreeching haltā€ in March, due to the pandemic.

So, we came up with the idea to create a virtual choir video, and began with the adult chorale. If you haven’t seen it yet, here is the link to their performance:

… and now it’s your turn!! The piece we have chosen is the Sound of Music favorite, ā€œDo-Re-Miā€. Just FYI, here’s a link to a performance of this arrangement:

If you’d like to participate – and we so hope you will! – please let me know as soon as possible, at elizabethpesce@comcast.net or 617-335-8155, and I’ll send you the details!

Warmest regards,
Betsy

You are invited to participate in our next virtual concert!

Dear friends,

I hope this note finds you and your families enjoying this very seasonable start to fall!

First off, once again, I want to thank all those of you who were able to participate in our very first ā€œvirtual choirā€œ video…you all did a great job! And now I would like to extend an invitation to ALL of you who would like to do so to participate in our next one!

I have chosen another of the pieces we were working on together – ā€œLift Every Voice and Singā€. As you may recall, we had intended for this to be the opening piece for our spring concert. Just for your reference, here is a link to the publisher’s demo performance of this arrangement:

https://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/media-player.jsp…

I think, given everything that is happening in our country right now, this piece is especially appropriate.

If you would like to participate – and I so hope you will! – just please let me know as soon as possible and I will send you all of the details and the ā€œhow toā€˜sā€!

I am looking forward to hearing back from each of you.

Warmest regards,
Betsy

Medford Community Chorale Virtual Concert

Happy Labor Day weekend, everyone!

I am delighted to let you all know that – right on schedule! – the final version of  our first Medford Community Chorale ā€œvirtual choir videoā€ is ready! (see the link below)  As you will see in the opening frames, we have dedicated this video in loving memory of our friend and chorale member, John Farrell, who passed away in April from the coronavirus.

I am thrilled that we ended up with 38 participants (including Holly and me), and I so hope that those of you who participated enjoyed your experience, and that those of you who were not able to be with us this time will consider joining us for the next one?!

One of the nice things about a virtual choir is that there are no geographical boundaries(!), and we are so happy that some of our folks who have moved away or weren’t able to make a weekly commitment to rehearsals, were able to be a part of this from their own homes.  We even have one friend who participated from Stuttgart, Germany!

This project has been a lot of work, but it has also been such a wonderful and fun learning experience for all of us, and I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Julie, to Holly, and to all of you!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

~ Betsy
